Trophy Events

Oxford Mail Youth Football League

Following the change to non-competitive football for younger age groups, leagues are allowed to provide trophy competitions during the season to give a taste of competitive football. These trophy competitions last for a set period of time and can be of varying formats. Typical formats will be seeded groups, end of season tournaments, ladder competitions and Champions League Format. Teams from U7-U11 will take part in trophy events under the new format. Depending on the format used, these trophy competitions may take place at central venues or at the venue of the first named club.

In line with FA rules, results and tables will NOT be published for these events, though the winners and runners-up can be named.

As we did last season, all the development age groups will have two Trophy Events along with a Knockout Cup competition (with development games for teams not making it through the rounds). The scheduled dates for the trophy events in 2018-2019 are listed below but may be subject to change:

U7 TROPHY EVENTS

Autumn Trophy Event (13 Oct, 3 Nov)

Details and rules (week 2)
Teams have been streamed using the results from Week One of the competition.
Teams will play round-robin games of 5 minutes each way.
The top two teams in each group will go through to the Semi Final in their competition.
Head to Head rule applies and then goal difference for finishing positions in the event of equal points.
In the knockout stages, extra time of 2 minutes will be played in the event of a draw, then penalties - 3 per team.
Players cannot be switched between teams within the club.
Teams can use all their registered players in this competition but only 10 per game.
Please arrive at Oxford City FC by 09:40 at the latest and register your arrival with the League Representative in the clubhouse.
Winners and Runners-Up of each of the 4 competitions will receive an award.

Details and rules (week 2)
Teams in groups of 4 will play round-robin games of 7 minutes each way. Teams in groups of 5 will play round-robin games of 10 minutes one way.
The top two teams in each group will go through to the Semi Final and then the final. Head to Head rule applies and then goal difference.
In the Semi Finals & Final extra time of 2 minutes will be played in the event of a draw. Then penalties - 3 per team.
A reminder that teams must have their squad list available for inspection by opponents and/or League Officials. No squad list = cannot play in the competition.
Only players that are registered to the specific team can play. Players cannot be switched between teams within the club.
Teams can use all their registered players in this competition but only 10 per game.
Please arrive at your venue by 9:30 at the latest and register your arrival with the League Representative.
Winners and Runners-Up of each of individual competition will receive an award.
Remember that the Oxford City pitches are 3G and football boots must be worn. (not astra turf)
