Trophy Event Details 2021-2022

Following the change to non-competitive football for younger age groups, leagues are allowed to provide trophy competitions during the season to give a taste of competitive football. These trophy competitions last for a set period of time and can be of varying formats. Typical formats will be seeded groups, end of season tournaments, ladder competitions and Champions League Format. Teams from U7-U11 will take part in trophy events under the new format. Depending on the format used, these trophy competitions may take place at central venues or at the venue of the first named club.

In line with FA rules, results and tables will NOT be published for these events, though the winners and runners-up can be named.

Trophy Events Rules

Trophy Event schedules will be ciriculated to club sSee the Cup Competition page for the KO Cup details of older age groups (U12 to U21). Trophy Event details will be posted when available.

Matches will be played under the same rules as all other League matches, though there may be amendments as follows which will be confirmed by the League Fixtures Secretary for each trophy event:

  • U7 and U8 Trophy Events will be played at central venues (unless notified otherwise), with match durations adjusted accordingly to meet the FA guidelines on the amount of football played on the same day.
  • Matches may be a mixture of round robin and knockout, played over more than one weekend. Details will be confirmed in advance.
  • In knockout matches, if score level after normal time, teams will play extra time. Normally this will be two halves of 5 minutes each, but this may be varied for central venue events.
  • In knockout matches, if score level after extra time, teams will take three penalties each and then, if required, sudden death.
  • Winners and Runners-Up will receive an award.
  • Other rules to be applied for specific trophy event will be sent to clubs in advance
  • Where trophy events are held at central venues, match results will be collected on the day and do not need to be reported through Full-Time. Match statistics are also not required.
